Nestled in the Indian Ocean, close to Madagascar, is Mauritius. Geographically considered Africa, yet cuisine and culture is a mix between Indian and French. I consider Mauritius as the cultured Maldives for so many reasons. One, the water with shades of green, blue reminds me of the Maldives, considering both are protected by reefs. Mauritius tho has got the rich history which endears the island to myself. I am sure both islands have real, good natured people. However, Mauritius is where I've recently been. It was my haven for a week. I've taken in everything I could from this beautiful island. Including the fact that it is quite a long journey away from Australia.
The Mauritian flag's got four colours. Each symbolising : Life, vegetation or fertility *green*, the Sun, sand, hope *yellow*, Ocean *Blue*, Struggle for independence *red*. I am fascinated with the whole package that the island has to offer. I believe that beyond the natural beauty of the place, the people are the island's main charm. No wonder everyone falls in love with a Mauritian!
