Qantas continues it's strikes

It's been going on for some time now. Travel industry workers, particularly those working for Qantas have been in and out of worker strikes. On 23 June and 24 June, Engineers are walking off the job and holding out until they get what they demand for. Which is a five percent increase in their wage. Really, this is not good for Qantas' reputation, which has been wavering and showing instability in the recent months.

A colleague of mine and I were talking the other day, and she mentioned that with the Kevin Rudd government in place, there have been workers' strikes left and right. Does this mean anything? Or is it simply having more freedom to express what one feels? It reminds me of the labour strikes we are used to having back home (in the Philippines). These things happen on a day to day basis. But in Australia, where things should be better this should not be the norm, or so I think. Really, I suppose worldwide more labourers are harder to satisfy. Each one trying to be content, but with cost of living soaring, it all is a cutthroat world we live in. Sad but true.
